DAVAO CITY – Solid fans and supporters of the Davao City Mayor and now presumptive president-elect Rodrigo Duterte have campaigned for him in almost all ways known-stickers, t-shirts, fans, tarpaulins, ballers and even vehicle plates, among others. But using them have limitations.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the region warns fanatics on using the decorative “DU30” plates in lieu of the original plates in their private vehicles and motorcycles.
“We are reminding the public that using the decorative plates to replace regular plates issued by the LTO is prohibited under the law. They can display it on their windshields or in any part of their vehicles, except as a vehicle plate because we will apprehend them,” LTO-XI Operations Chief Eleanor Calderon.
Calderon said violators will be penalized with 5,000 pesos when caught not using the original plates. The license plates and the driver’s license will also be confiscated.
“We have caught some and we already warned even before and after the election because it is really prohibited,” said Calderon.
She said legitimate plate numbers will help them track accidents.
She believed that it would displease presumptive president Duterte if there will be Davaoenos who will be caught because of these offenses.
